As Rust Mansion is coming back to life in 2022, we look to the communities that need healing. An impactful partnership has been created with Violent Crime Victim Services (VCVS) and the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center (CJFJC).
This is a fitting partnership as Rust Mansion is being restored by a single mother and widow. VCVS is also a woman led by newly appointed director Juli Garcia and CJFJC serves women of Pierce County.
Violent Crime Victim Services works to provide advocacy services to co-victims of violent crimes in our area, specifically homicide. The incredible uptick in crime since the pandemic has hit is increasing at an alarming rate. VCVS is predominantly a woman-staffed organization that is leading an essential and purposeful service in our area.
The Crystal Judson Family Justice Center serves the needs of domestic violence victims and their children by securing emergency housing, providing imminent needs and offering support and safety planning for victims as a bridge to long-term safety.
Partners with substance abuse issues account for 90% of all domestic violence and 50% of abusers have a dependency to prescription or recreational drugs. Following the pandemic, increase of drug abuse has intensified, resulting in more victims in need of support.
As Rust Mansion is restored, so are the lives of so many affected of late thanks to these extraordinary organizations.
VCVS and CJFJC are funded, in part, by grants and private donations. We ask that our community come together and celebrate not only the restoration of Rust Mansion but also the work that these impactful women organizations are doing.
